Stages of Rapid Instructional Design

Instructional Designers collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) or contributors to identify what the learning gaps are and the skills the learners need to acquire to close those learning gaps as well as resources that can be utilized.

Implications of Rapid Instructional Design in Instructional Design

  • Instructional designers ensure that the learning modules contain engaging elements to ensure learners stay engage throughout and successfully complete the module.

  • Instructional designers work closely with businesses and subject matter experts (SMEs)  to get meaningful feedback to make sure necessary updates are implemented so that the final product displays the requested information so that the client is kept happy as well as their learners.

  • The process isn't a lengthy one which requires less costs and for things to be streamlined quickly to meet deadlines.

Rapid Instructional Design in my Finding Work-Life Balance course

Strengths

  • My course would be able to go live quickly so that people can access it.

  • My course is asynchronous course that would benefit from having engaging activities that are not overwhelming, easy to manage for learners such as habit trackers and quick reflections.

  • A prototype can be launched to gather feedback and see what improvements need to be made.

  • Continuously monitor learners progress and obtain feedback to make real-time changes to align with learners needs.

Limitations

  • The quick turnaround time from start to finish may cause the content to not be as in-depth, allow learners to gain a meaningful experience.

  • Assessments that are created may not be appropriate in the way they are implemented, may be too basic.

  • The content may be too condensed and the quality may suffer due to this.

  • My course needs the time to create meaningful content that can adapt to a variety of learners and with how rapid it is the content will not be as personalized for different learners.
