LEARNING OBJECTIVES AND BLOOM'S TAXONOMY
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES AND LEARNING OBJECTIVES
COURSE LEARNING OUTCOMES: The key outcomes that learners are supposed to accomplish by the end of a course that include a framework of the different ways learners will be able to show mastery of the content given.
Examples:
-
Army service members need to know how to request tuition assistance for their classes through a portal called ArmyIgnitED.
-
The Army service member will submit the tuition assistance request and ensure it is auto-approved for course funding to be activated.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES: Key areas that represent the learning outcomes but are broken down into manageable chunks that are split into modules for learners to work on weekly.
Examples:
-
The Army service member will create separate tuition assistance requests for each course by adding each course individually to prevent funding issues.
-
The Army service member will verify their school information such as school ID, if they are in a deployed location and campus to determine their tuition rate.
BLOOM'S TAXONOMY
Bloom's taxonomy structures cognitive abilities and educational goals that are tiered based on critical thinking reasoning.

Each level focuses on a different specialization:

-
Remembering: The beginning level which focuses on retrieving information. The information can vary from important dates, basic terms or general ideas.
-
Understanding: Learners show their knowledge of information given by being able to summarize the content.
-
Applying: Learners will be able to apply the knowledge acquired to solve real-world situations.
-
Analyzing: Learners will be able to use their reasoning skills to dissect the information given and make sense of it.
-
Evaluating: Learners are able to develop and state their thoughts based on the standards given.
-
Creating: The highest level where learners are able to create their own version of a topic based on what they have learned.
